The Darlington Country Club has been a credit to the community since 1926. The club is the home of a challenging 18- hole golf course bordering beautiful Black Creek, an Olympic size swimming pool, as well as our spacious club house, suitable for functions of all kinds.

Located in the small town of Lydia, Fox Creek Golf Club offers players a panorama of large rolling greens, a well-manicured practice putting green and a large driving range. The charming course was designed by James Goodson in 1988 and has been well-loved by locals and visitors alike since making its debut.

For seasoned golfers looking for more of a challenge, Governor’s Run Golf Club in Lamar is a solid choice. The 18-hole championship course features an intricate design that’s sure to keep even the most experienced players on their toes. Need to get in a few swings before teeing off? The club’s newly updated driving range features a covered and lighted artificial tee line perfect for getting some practice in.

Hartsville Country Club’s golf course—which opened nearly 100 years ago in 1926—was originally designed by legendary course designer Robert Trent Jones. After several decades of play, well-renowned course architect and golf player Tom Watson redesigned the course in the mid-1990s. Today, locals and visitors alike enjoy the course for its plush fairways, 419 Bermuda grass tee-boxes and Mini-Verde greens.

While most know the quaint community of Hamer for tourist hotspot South of the Border, the town is also home to the Dillon Municipal Golf Course. The 18-hole course is mostly flat with pine tree-lined fairways and features two ponds—as well as sand bunkers at every hole—for a more challenging experience. No. 8 takes home the title as the course’s signature hole and requires a solid tee shot to have a chance at par.

Perhaps the most well-known of courses in the region, The Country Club of South Carolina has been ranked as Pee Dee Country’s top course and was once home to a regular Nike Tour tournament. Today it’s the site of many South Carolina Golf Association events. This mid-1960s design by Ellis Maples features pristine greens and a scenic lake. Despite the scenic course’s tournament history, the layout is suitable for golfers of all skill levels.

Sitting on 15 sprawling acres of glimmering lakes, Shadow Creek Golf Course in Florence offers golfers a peaceful, picturesque course to enjoy. The beautiful course was built in 1998 and designed by Tom Jackson, an architect known for creating scenic courses throughout both South and North Carolina. The waterways and tall pines lining the course make for an especially fun challenge.

Another great course in Florence County is located at Lake City Country Club, a semi-private country club featuring a picturesque 18-hole, par 72 golf course that’s open to non-members Monday through Friday and holidays. Though the beautiful course is more challenging for less experienced golfers, it’s still an enjoyable course for all levels.

If 18 holes of fun isn’t enough, Traces Golf Club—which was recognized as Pee Dee’s top course in 2019—offers three separate nine-hole courses for playing an enjoyable yet challenging round of South Carolina golf. The Woodlands course, which was originally designed by famed course architect Ron Garl, features both water and sand challenges to put players’ skills to the ultimate test. Though not quite as challenging as the Woodlands course, the Meadows and Creekside courses also feature some water and sand elements, making for their own unique blend of challenges. If you need to warm up before hitting the greens, their well-kept driving range is the perfect spot to get in some practice swings.

Dusty Hills Country Club
For almost a century, locals and visitors alike have enjoyed the 18-hole “Dusty Hills” course at the Dusty Hills Country Club in Marion since its opening in 1922. The quaint course boasts terrific views, well-maintained fairways and greens and just the right amount of challenge for players of all ages and levels.

Situated among 130 sprawling acres in historic Bennettsville, Marlboro Country Club offers golfers of all skill levels a serene environment and beautiful course to play a leisurely round. The course opened in 1939 with nine holes designed by course architect Arthur Hamm, a Scotland native, and in 1998, Russell Bennett designed an additional nine holes for play.

If you’re looking for a secluded, quiet course to play, Swamp Fox Golf Club in Kingstree is just the ticket. The challenging but fun course, designed by Robert White, is a great choice for any skill level and has been a favored attraction in the community since opening in 1935. Nestled among old Southern pines, hardwoods and giant live oaks, Swamp Fox golf course offers golf aficionados a serene place to tee off and enjoy a leisurely day on the course. While playing, it’s common to spot a variety of local wildlife, including turkeys, deer, herons—and occasionally a sneaky swamp fox.
