A small but nice park. I got to see some of the pocket swamp that the area is known for. Although I did not see too many animals I did get to hear a few. The boardwalk was one of the interesting parts of my walk through the park. I found the staff/rangers that was there also very helpful. Although thee are signs saying there are aligators there I did not see any but I get to see them in South Florida all the time. Interesting plans and trees.

Fun place to stretch the legs when driving back north. Loved the swamp board walk. Really wanted to see a gator, but didn't. Did, however see a large spider on the trail. Happened to bump into the park ranger, he was kind and informative.

Another park in progress. The nature center/park office is closed for renovations, however we did find the ranger about and he was happy to answer all of our questions. They plan to add a playground soon. There are effectively 2 walking paths in the park, one picnic shelter and a decent amount of field. The boardwalk trail takes you into the middle of a preserved Carolina Bay, full of fish, flies, bullfrogs, lizards and gators. An enjoyable walk but be warned, there are no benches or railings. The nature trail seems about 2 miles over varied terrains with many large roots. A great hike/walk but don't look to bring anything that rolls. Full of birds, snakes, skinks and more, it really lives up to it's name. The history and mystery of the man-made dam is an added touch to the nature trail. The area is absolutely beautiful. We look forward to seeing the improvements made to this park the next time we find ourselves in the neighborhood.

Woods Bay State Park is a nice park if you have the right expectations going into it. It's a small nature preserve with a boardwalk in a black water swamp. It is pretty to walk through and observe nature. There is a single picnic shelter and an office (it was closed for construction when were there). There is also a large open field. Fishing is allowed here. This would be a nice place for a large gathering but not much else to do here.

Quiet and very secluded park for a picnic, hiking or fishing. There are walking paths through the woods, although some areas are troubled by roots and caution should be given. A boardwalk meanders over the swamp, but was closed after short distance. Laura was very informative about the current work in the park and about its current transition. Work is currently underway to refurbish the Ranger's station/residence and on the boardwalk.
