Woods Bay State Park
Woods Bay State Park is a natural treasure in the Pee Dee Region, offering visitors a glimpse into the unique ecosystem of Carolina Bays. Located near Olanta, South Carolina, this 1,590-acre park features a diverse range of habitats, including marsh, sandhills, oak-hickory forest, and shrub bog. The park is renowned for its 1,150-foot boardwalk that meanders through a cypress-tupelo swamp, providing opportunities to spot alligators and other wildlife. BLACK RIVER STATE PARK
Black River State Park is the first linear park in South Carolina, providing access to over 70 miles of water trails. The Meadows is the first of several locations within the park to open for public use. It features newly constructed public parking, a canoe and kayak launch, restrooms and a covered pavilion with views of the river.
The Black River is designated as a South Carolina Scenic River, named for its tannin-stained waters, which flow from the surrounding swamps in the watershed.
