I had an excellent experience at this golf course today. I am glad I read other reviews and went for it. It was really nice to get away from the fray of the Grand Strand and play an excellent course for a fair price (understatement), and no country club atmosphere. The pretty drive from the coast was over an hour, well worth it. Beautiful course conditions, challenging holes w varying difficulties, back 9 more challenging I thought. Green's just beautiful. Happy for the staff who have put this course back to its beautiful shape. Can't wait to play again

Had a chance to talk with the head greens keeper. Found out he takes care of the entire course with only 4 people! How anyone can put out such a great product with only 4 people is simply amazing. Give that guy a raise,, greens are great!

From out of state so like to play new courses. Got hot deal on Golfnow and have to say that course itself was not to bad. Greens were good and course condition was fair but did not feel it was worth the price I paid but do feel it would be worth $40-50 at most. Course was pretty empty on a sunday morning so had to play as a single. The players on the course were very obliging and allowed me to play through without asking. Southern gentlemen at their finest!

The course was in good condition from what I saw definitley challenging but man oh man was the cart giving me issues off the first tee everytime I stopped it wouldn't go again id have to push the cart then the engine would kick on or turn it off completely and restart it then it would work. Everytime I stopped thats alot for 18 holes. I really came out to see if the price was worth the course. In my opinion no it is not there are so many places to golf that have equal if not better courses for less than what is charged for a daily rates in my opinion. Now if your out this way and need a place to play id give this a round but not somewhere I would go often

Course was in good shape. We had a tournament with no water or drink cart. We had to unload our own bags.

Wellman Golf Club is well worth the drive. It's just a short distance out of the Flo Town city limits. My opinion: I imagine the golf architects wanted to design a "true test of golf" and Johnsonville was the lucky powerball lottery winner. The land for the designers were given a blank check. They had grandiose imaginations and were determined to build optical illusions and mind tricks in the perfect location. Facts: What seems long is short and what looks short is long. What looks narrow is wide and what appears wide is narrow. Real Golfers understand exactly what I mean. Risk rewards are ever present and the bigger the risk the greater the reward. The cart barn was spotless! Five star - cart barn. Customer Service with a smile. The grounds crew is super. Wellman Johnsonville Golf Course isn't 5 stars because they don't shine golfers' shoes, clean their golf clubs and it lacks locker rooms and showers. The price of those amenities would cause folk to think you're snobby anyway. Pay approximately $40.00 for your greens fee with a cart and you get to test all your abilities and every last one of life's simple lessons. The history of the course is almost Biblical and warrants appreciation and study. Final thought for golfers: You can please some of the people all of the time. You can please all of the people some of the time. But, you will never please all of the people all of the time.
