I thought the pulled pork and ribs were excellent. Loved the vinegar based sauce and also got slaw and potato salad. My wife said the ribs were dry but don’t worry that was just a sign to find a new wife.
Jul 10, 2026 · Google ReviewMy fiancé and I absolutely love good food, and for years we talked about coming here after seeing it featured on a food show we watched together. We always said one day we’d make the trip and finally experience it for ourselves. This Memorial Day weekend, we decided to choose peace over pressure, hit the road, and finally check it off our bucket list. The second we pulled up, I already knew this place was special. I grew up in the country on a farm, and something about it instantly felt like home. The people were kind, the atmosphere was full of history, and you could just feel the love in the walls. Some places feed your stomach… this place feeds your soul. I truly pray it never changes. By the time we got there they had already sold out of ribs — which honestly told me everything I needed to know right there. But even without them, the food absolutely blew us away. That sauce deserves its own paragraph. 😂 It was so smooth and perfectly blended you didn’t see any separation like you do in most sauces. You could literally taste the smoke in it, with just the right amount of heat behind it. Every bite kept getting better and better. At one point we all just looked at each other laughing and smiling because nobody wanted the moment to end. We honestly sat there talking about the food the entire time we were eating it. Before we left, we ended up ordering more because we already knew one visit wasn’t enough. 😂 This wasn’t just a restaurant experience. It felt like comfort, peace, nostalgia, and happiness all wrapped into one place. The kind of place that reminds you to slow down and enjoy life for a minute. I’m so grateful we finally made the trip, and we will 100% be back. May God continue blessing this place forever. ❤️
May 24, 2026 · Google ReviewA legendary place that is definitely worth the drive. The vinegar/pepper style of BBQ is not very common outside of the Carolinas. However, the star of the place is the quality of meat. Hands down the best pulled pork I've ever had. It's a must of you're a BBQ fan.
Jan 19, 2026 · Google ReviewOur continuing BBQ adventures around the US brought us to Scott’s Bar-B-Que. Some say the best in South Carolina, these cinder block pits using hickory, oak and pecan, locally cut, smoke whole hogs Wednesday thru Sunday in Hemingway SC. This hole in the wall, roadside treasure was everything! 🐷 🍖 🇺🇸 The ribs were special, lots of meat, tender and amazing. The ladies behind the counter were super friendly and the atmosphere did not disappoint
Dec 27, 2025 · Google ReviewScott’s Bar-B-Que in Hemingway is, without question, the best barbecue I have ever eaten. I first heard about Scott’s on a CBS News feature and was surprised to learn that this legendary family-owned restaurant was only about 30 minutes from where I live. Time passed, and I eventually forgot about it. Then one day I was craving real, authentic barbecue. I tried a few places around Florence, but nothing came close to what I was looking for. I wasn’t looking for barbecue covered in vinegar or mustard sauce. I wanted fresh pork straight from the smoker where you can actually taste the rich wood smoke, the tenderness of the meat, and all the hard work that goes into making true Carolina barbecue. Then I remembered Scott’s. The drive to Hemingway was one of the best decisions I’ve made. The moment I took my first bite, I understood why Scott’s has earned national recognition. The barbecue was unbelievably tender, incredibly juicy, perfectly smoky, and practically melted in my mouth. Every bite was packed with flavor without needing to hide behind heavy sauces. This is barbecue the way it’s meant to be. You can taste the tradition, the pride, and the generations of experience that go into every batch they prepare. It’s not just a meal—it’s an experience that reminds you what authentic barbecue is supposed to taste like. After eating at Scott’s, I honestly don’t understand why I would go anywhere else for barbecue. It has completely changed my expectations. If you’ve never been, do yourself a favor and make the drive. Whether you’re local or just passing through South Carolina, Scott’s Bar-B-Que is absolutely worth every mile. Five stars aren’t enough. This place is a South Carolina treasure
